Bingo

With the advent of the computer age, our ideas about entertainment have undergone a drastic transformation. Before television, children spent their free time outdoors playing. Then, along came television and they turned from outdoor activity to indoor TV watching. Now, online entertainment competes quite successfully with TV for our children’s attention and time.

Responsible parents are concerned about what sort of sites their children visit while online.  We all worry that our kids may become ensnared into some ill advised schemes and relationships. When we think about our kids playing online games, specifically gambling type games, we worry that they will become addicted to gambling later in life and end up massively in debt. Even the thought of your child playing online bingo may be scary to you. However, online bingo website operators have, on the whole, realized the potential of bingo as a learning aid and have responded by developing their sites accordingly.

When most of us think of playing bingo we immediately think of a bunch of senior citizens sitting at tables with daubers in hand eagerly awaiting the calling of the next number. Online bingo has changed this whole perception. Children around the world are logging on in classrooms and homes to play bingo as a part of their education.

In some foreign countries they use online bingo games to help teach children the English language. They feel that English is a nearly universal language and that for their children to successfully compete in the world, the children must know English.  Online bingo website operators have voluntarily designed bingo games specifically to teach the English language. These online bingo games are dissimilar to regular bingo in that the player is not competing against a room full of cardholders, but instead they are matching sounds and words against a timer. To win they must correctly match the English word on the bingo card with the word displayed in their language. These games are designed to stimulate and develop memory skills.

Many online bingo sites now routinely include bingo games for children as young as two or three. Even toddlers that cannot read can have fun and learn at the same time by playing online bingo games. For the youngest players there are bingo games that center on sight and sound recognition. For instance, there are many games for pre-reading youngsters that look just like an adult bingo game, complete with a card and a marker (your mouse pointer in this case). However, rather than numbers in the grid, the squares will commonly be populated by animal pictures. The bingo caller will play the sound an animal would make and the child points and clicks on the animal picture that matches the animal sound. This sort of bingo game is designed with dual purpose in mind; a child playing this sort of game is developing memory skills along with computer skills.

Parents, as with all computer activity, your child’s online game playing should be done under your supervision. Online bingo is a great way to help your child learn while having a lot of fun. Give online bingo for kids a chance; you will be amazed at the results.
